Well, today’s podcast would have come online earlier today, but due to a bewildering array of extenuating circumstances, it’s going up late. My frustrating day certainly matches the tone of the news we have for this week, what with EA deciding to retake their Asshole Crown and the gamer bitchfest about every decision made by any game company reaching deafening levels of volume. There was some good news as well, Valve is taking one of their games free-to-play, Al Gore backs gaming as a legit medium, and Microsoft released the Kinect SDK beta. So, please, Share and Enjoy; I’m going to get drunk.

With E3 still a week away, and the PSN fiasco finally winding down, what news scraps are there left for poor amateur podcasters like us feed on? How about an announcement for a Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy game? Minecraft coming to Android and iOS? Kotaku showing some of that ol’ backbone that we used to love? And the announcement of Facebook: Modern Warfare (AKA Call of Duty Elite)? All of this and more on this week’s episode of the Full Glass Empty Clip Podcast! Please, Share and Enjoy.

We do strive to maintain a degree of optimism and positivity in our message and tone here at the Full Glass Empty Clip Podcast, but Goddamn, it gets hard sometimes. We enter the fourth week of the Playstation Network shutdown and discuss what that means for Sony and their partners with PSN (Hint: bad things), try to deduce what Nintendo means with their Vitality Sensor delay news and why they’re still talking about it, smack some collective heads together about Mass Effect 3 and Valve, Notch floats the idea of a big Minecraft convention for the launch date, we hope that Harmonix being untethered from Viacom means more awesome Rock Band DLC in our future, muse a bit about World of Warcraft and Spy Party, and advocate for gamification of education. Please, share and enjoy, and talk back at us at fgecpodcast@fullglassemptyclip.com.

PODCAST-passedout

So, you might have heard about this game that came out this week, Portal 2. We wish we could blame all of our tardiness on that, but really, it was the foul invasion of Real Life into our little bacchanalian world of beer and gaming that caused the delay. However, we have Podcast for you regardless!

This week, we bemoan the prevalence of idiots on the Internet, both regarding the “backlash” against Portal 2 and the wild storm of rumors surrounding a supposed Wii 2 E3 debut, celebrate clever ways of defeating piracy, discuss the limited information about Prey 2, and promote PC Gamer’s debut of a 90 minute time-limited demo for Minecraft (which you can download here). Please, share and enjoy, and let us know what you think at fgecpodcast@fullglassemptyclip.com.

No, it sadly isn’t a real Golden Ticket to Valve’s headquarters, but listener Katrel was nice enough to make it for us after our opining last week (he tells us he found it in a “box” of Portal 2), which takes the sting away a little. Thanks, Katrel!

This week has been slow for the gaming industry, allowing us to bring you all the news that is fit for your eagerly awaiting ears. We cover things like hacker troubles in Zynga-land, the state of PC ports, and how Nintendo is managing to mess up a product that is selling out anyways, as well as Metacritic’s lose-lose developer ratings system.
