The Western Hub is open for business. Come on by!

Dreamtigerz also finished an Astronomical Observatory, which I believe, in a pinch, can also double as an Ion Cannon. Pretty handy, that.
Well, that’s it for now. Check out the map links to see where we are, and if you feel like it, come visit!

Okay, I’ve been running my mouth about myself for way too long. Here’s what Tigerz has been up to: before getting sidetracked by the flu, Tigerz finished another maze, and was just starting to build some mondo huge dragon fractal ( the background object ). Can’t wait to see how that one turns out!

It’s a pretty big mine, getting bigger all the time. ( This corridor is over 100 blocks in length. )

This is what I call The Display Room For Tourists, showing off all the ores that people seek, in their natural habitat. Hours may vary, call ahead for show times.

Here’s the front facade of my mining operation.

My favorite new thing is the storage room. A place for everything, and everything in its place! No smoking, please.

Just today, in a flurry of activity, I built a proper house, reinforced against the oncoming hordes of mobs. Here I am, looking forward to sniping creepers from my new balcony…
( You can’t see it in this view, but there’s a nice, high, gated fence encircling our fortified compound. )

Dreamtigerz and I both came down with the flu, so we haven’t been playing as much as we’d like to. Still, we’ve made some progress. Here’s my yet-to-be-finished Rocketship X-M ( eXperimental-Minecraft ).

Robert Heinlein has been an influence on what I’ve been building lately, an old-school (as in 1950s) styled spaceport.

Well, the Aporkalypse is due to arrive any time now, and we’ve been getting ready. I thought I’d show what all is going on with me & Dreamtigerz.

Taken from the ground floor of the observation post, with the staircase winding upwards. The next step of the process is to create several floors in the post. This is the last time it will look this pretty. Soon it will be a self-sustaining, safe structure.

The completely gutted inside of the observation post. Taken from the top of the circular staircase. Yes, that’s a cloud in the corner.

The innards of the post. This is just below the top floor, with the last pole of stone remaining to be gutted. The floor is at one layer above bedrock. The cylinder of the tower has a radius of 13 blocks.

The pit outside of the observation post. The post tops out at max height, and the pit has an obsidian floor placed on top of the first layer of bedrock. The pit extends all the way around the post.

The outside of SneakyArab’s observation post.

The community canvas is a huge blank space you can “paint” on. Make your own creations and alter others’! The idea is for it to change over time. You’ll find paints that are free to use, and an observation deck you can climb to get a view of the entire canvas.

To prove that I don’t take myself completely seriously with regards to this gloom and doom “dark days are coming” stuff, I built the following useless building.
There are no walls, so the skeletons can shoot you. You can’t place torches inside because the floor is half-height blocks. There’s a useless water feature inside. There’s only one entrance and exit, and it has no door. You can’t even burn mobs inside because of the floor height. In short, it’ll be absolutely worthless as a place to hide when the hostile mobs arrive.

Some minor problems on the server today. You may not recognize your usual /spawn.

I couldn’t read all the names, so if I haven’t identified you in the tags, please speak up!

So a chicken wandered into a minecart in the Danger Room. Its attempts to escape only propelled the minecart more. It ran the track in an endless loop.
When we watched it, it shot around like a rubber band. Freezing, then benny hilling down the line, then freezing again. The chicken often appeared a few feet separated from the cart.
Every single screenshot I took of it flying by, the chicken sat perfectly still in the cart. I will spare you the tedium of every shot.
When I take screenshots of myself, my legs are out and nothing makes sense.

so I have more of these than I thought.

Part of the fire fighting team. A good reason to use a custom skin.

Sick of two-dimensional pixel art in a 3D game, I decided to prove that there ARE a few interesting things that can be done in two dimensions.

Bring some coins.

And here’s the saplings all grown up!

Here’s a small sample of the many trees replanted at Funland.

The best 1:1 rendition I was able to do of the Treasury at Petra, Jordan.

The end is nigh! Porkton may now be fortified but the defenses are untested. It’s only a matter of time until the undead (and undetonated) begin throwing themselves on the gates. When the last grain of sand falls… may Notch have mercy on us all.

Stonestock, at the top of his tower, looks down upon New Hamsterdam’s development.

Underneath our world lies this creature.

Well, his evil torch-obsessed clone is.

But at least now you’ll know for sure when you’ve arrived at the gates of the Land that Light Forgot.
