Hello, everyone! I have recovered enough from my journey to lands far away to catch up with the several thousand bits of news that I missed while I was away, and we are now ready to present to you a lovely new episode of the Full Glass Empty Clip Podcast! Not only that, but thanks to the efforts of one Mr. Mike Russell (http://culturepulp.typepad.com/), who is not only a fine artist but an excellent film critic, we have something new: a header image to call our own! No more will I have to steal images from Flickr to put above the posts! Luxuriate in the beauty and glow of our logo!
Since the industry did not get my memo about shutting down for a week and a half, much news happened while we were away. So much so, that this is merely the first half of a two-part podcast! Ben will be posting up the second half later on today. For now, the beginning! And we start with discussing the Bulletstorm demo, how much neither of us likes the 3DS and how little that actually matters, we make some shit up about the PSP2 since we were podcasting as Sony was debuting it, I’m a complete jerk about fan-made gaming short films, and the official release date for Duke Nukem Forever hits and we wonder if such a thing could possibly be good. Enjoy, and keep an eye out for the second half of the return of the Full Glass Empty Clip Podcast.

RE: Price of 3DS games. I’m guessing that the development costs have risen as the technology gets more complex. handhelds are getting to have the specs that are closer to consoles of a few years back, which require the same amount of devs, hence the higher costs. Subsequent shovelware will probably be priced less.
RE PSP phone. Portable gaming is really trending onto smartphones, so they probably want a piece of that hot action. I got the droid mainly because it makes playing games slightly easier (but most devs sorta make games with the idea that you’ll only have the touchscreen anyway) but…it’ll make playing emulators easier/better.
I’ve largely been ignoring the 3DS, for most of the reasons you mention. I feel like handhelds are about to enter the awkward phase consoles were in around the PS1 era, and I’d rather stick with my low-res turn-based Fire Emblems and Tactics Ogres until it all blows over.
