Sony facing class-action lawsuit for forced removal of linux from PS3

Sony got spooked about the DRM on the PS3 getting cracked, so unceremoniously dumped the other-OS feature of the PS3 with a mandatory firmware update. Multiple lawsuits were filed, and they’re now bundled into a single class-action suit.

    I never actually installed Linux, but it was definitely not cool that they just up and took away that capability. Especially since there are folks using arrays of PS3′s running Linux for research and stuff!
