Here’s the video of Franklin Page beating the world record for texting using swype in March, to show why you want it.

Here’s another guy beating him on youtube.

The good news for android phone users is that the free beta is officially open again for ‘a few days’. Get it while you can!

(edit) And heeere’s a slightly more sane speed demo so you can how it actually works. (The version on my phone autocaps after full stops, so I’ve not needed the manual caps yet)

So how does this work, exactly? You just drag? It sounded like a lot of clicking was going on in that second video, which is weird.

Yeah, you click on the first letter, then drag over all the other letters in the word (of course dragging over a bunch of other unrelated letters) and it automagically guesses which word you wanted. Assuming it got the right one you just carry on and click the next first letter, drag over the letters etc and it adds the spaces. If it gets it wrong, you pick the one you want from the popup list, and carry on.

I’ve edited the post to add a slightly more sane speed demo.

I have Swype on my phone and I think it’s the cat’s pajamas.
